Peter Gilman

Chairman

Peter founded the wider group of GMI companies back in 1983, including GMI Construction. He has been at the forefront of the property development sector in Leeds, throughout this time and led the establishment of Thorpe Park - one of the UK’s largest Business Parks.

Peter is a passionate football supporter having previously been Board Director of Leeds United FC from 1980 to 1996.

James Poskitt

Managing Director

James holds a BSc (Hons) in Estate Management, along with an MBA and is a qualified Chartered Surveyor. He joined GMI Property Company in 2004 as Managing Director.

He has played a significant role in the Yorkshire Property Industry over the last ten years, having previously been Head of DTZ Debenham Tie Leung in Leeds. James has extensive experience in handling large scale development projects including such schemes as Thorpe Park and Sheffield Digital Campus.

He is used to working with a broad spectrum of partners, including landowners, private companies, public sector agencies and educational institutions. James is particularly skilled in working with design teams to optimise building specification and value maximisation.

Susan Brook

Financial Director

Susan is a Chartered Management Accountant. She has worked for GMI Property Company since 2003 as the Group’s Finance Director.

Prior to this, she worked for Scarborough Development Group for several years, providing her with an unrivalled depth of experience in complex property development projects.

Deborah Doyle

Director

Deborah has a BA (Hons) in Urban Estate Surveying and is a qualified Chartered Surveyor. Having been with GMI Property Company for the last ten years, she previously worked for English Partnerships and subsequently East Midlands Development Agency.

With extensive experience in complex regeneration projects, often involving contaminated and physically challenging sites, Deborah has a thorough understanding of the development process.

With a demonstrable ability to overcome challenges and work with constraints to deliver projects, she is able to maximise any potential a site has to offer.

Carolyn Lord

Strategic Planning Manager

Carolyn’s degree is in English Literature and History and after working in regeneration for Leeds City Council she qualified as a solicitor with Hammond Suddards in 1992. She specialises in planning, highways and related areas of law.

Carolyn’s practice has always included large-scale infrastructure projects and a wide range of complex development schemes where her role continues over many years. She acted on most development projects for GMI since 1994 and the synergy which was cemented with the team over that period led to her moving in-house in early 2008.

She deals with strategic matters through to detailed project implementation and management of the planning process.
